i’ve been thinking about a short story called "fearsome fable."
the premise: monkeys at typewriters instantly produce a perfect, coherent sentence on the first try. on the surface, it’s a thought experiment on probability—an unsettling defiance of randomness.
but we can also apply a different lens. a form of cognitive alchemy. we can assign a symbolic meaning to each word, each number in the sequence.
the story transforms:
from >
a random act of chance.
to >
a guided, purposeful blueprint about time, reality, and humanity.
and that's what makes the fable "fearsome."
the unsettling idea that behind the noise of chaos, there may be an unseen, underlying order just waiting for a coherent framework to reveal it.
(this is basically my entire job description, but with fewer monkeys).
what if the meaning is always there, just waiting for the right lens?
