post: we’re live in the library of babel.

our world is a flatland of isolated hexagons.

a hexagon = a single, bounded perspective. your mind, your feed, your worldview.

technology gave everyone a broadcast tower, flattening the world into a chaotic floor. creator with a phone = hexagon corporation = hexagon

every hexagon becomes an isolated kingdom, locked in a war for attention. the result is a world with no shared context, no up or down.

just cognitive chaos. everyone is lost in their own perspective.

but the story left a key. “The Library is a sphere whose exact centre is any one of its hexagons and whose circumference is inaccessible.” –Jorge Luis Borges

the library is a sphere, and your perspective is its center.

the task is not to shout louder from your hexagon. it is to build the maps that connect them. every system you design, every framework you share, reveals the shape of the sphere.

this is how we build our way out.

“We are called to be architects of the future, not its victims.”–Buckminster Fuller 🙏🏼

“The universe (which others call the Library) is composed of an indefinite, perhaps infinite number of hexagonal galleries.”

first, we must understand the hexagon.

a hexagon = a bounded perspective.

a single, coherent, but isolated worldview. it is your mind, your feed, your company. it is a natural and necessary structure for a single consciousness.

  • a creator with a phone = a hexagon. they stand at the center. each wall is a platform: tiktok, x, instagram. its six sides are platforms: tiktok, instagram, x. they broadcast from their center. they broadcast outwards.
  • a news corporation = a hexagon. a legacy news corporation is also just one hexagon. technology has flattened the hierarchy. it uses the same six sides.

technology gave every person a broadcast tower. the result was an explosion of hexagons in flatland: why people are getting fired, boundary between public and private has dissolved. ( conflict of interest…)

an architecture of isolation is designed to produce information, not knowledge. the media thrives on this flatness. its energy depends on keeping the hexagons separate, convincing each that it is the world. this tiling fragments attention.

  • information = raw, isolated data points (more books for your hexagon).
  • knowledge = data points connected in a coherent structure (a map of the library).

the information architecture is flat. a tiled floor of infinite hexagons, stretching into a hazy horizon.

in this flatland, there is no up or down. no shared context. every hexagon is an isolated kingdom, convinced it is the entire world. the result is cognitive overload. we are all lost in our own perspective, insisting we are on the same page. we are all lost in our own perspective.

but the story holds a secret. a truth we have forgotten.

the library is a sphere whose center is any hexagon.

the problem is not the hexagons. the problem is the architecture that presents them as a flat, disconnected floor. the structure is holographic, but we are being handed a flat blueprint.

the world is not actually flat. we are simply experiencing it through a flat architecture. the chaos is an illusion created by a flawed blueprint. the underlying reality is one of coherence. your perspective, your hexagon, is already the center of the universe. you just lack the map to see it.

next post:

the architect's lens

to escape the flatland, you cannot simply shout louder from your hexagon. you must see the structure of the floor itself. you need a new lens, not more books.

this is the information required to become an architect:

  • first principles: the unchanging rules that govern the system, beneath the noise of daily content.
  • incentives: the energy source that dictates why the hexagons behave as they do.
  • patterns: the geometric relationships that connect disparate fields of knowledge.
  • scale: the ability to zoom from your personal view to the systemic view, and back again, without losing your orientation.

this is not information. it is a toolkit for orientation. a compass and a set of blueprints.

the call for cartographers

the library's secret remains: it is a sphere. the flatland is a shared illusion maintained by the machine.

the architect uses the lens to perceive this spherical truth. the role evolves.

from -> creator (an operator tiling the floor). to -> architect (a cartographer charting the sphere).

your function is to build tools for orientation. to create maps of coherence that others can use to locate their own hexagon as the true center of a unified world.

the mission is cognitive liberation. it means distributing the architect's toolkit, freeing everyone from the tyranny of the flat map.

the solution: the call for architects

this is not a call for more content creators. it is a call for an inner awakening. a call for architects. this truth calls for a new role. the age of the "content creator" is over. the age of the architect has begun.

your position, your perspective, is the center of a coherent world. the task is to recognize this.

the role must shift.

  • from -> content creator (an operator, filling one hexagon with more books). fills their own hexagon with more books, adding to the noise. their goal is to win inside their single cell.
  • to -> mapmaker (an architect, stands above charting the connections between hexagons). connects the hexagons, creating a map. adding another layer to the sphere.
